On Saturday, we had our first post placement visit with our social worker. She was here for about an hour and a half, and I think it went really well. She asked us questions about Ezekiel's schedule, how we are adjusting to being parents, what our relationship is like with his birth mom. We will have 2 more phone interviews and a final visit from her in June before she writes up our post placement report. After that, we can go back to Texas for our final court date to make the adoption final.
We have some friends who are wanting to adopt. Both Nathanael and I have spoken to them separately about our experiences adopting, and offered them the resources that we have. I feel blessed to be on this side of it. There were times before we brought Ezekiel home that I talked to people who are where we are now, and I am thankful that we have Ezekiel, and that I am able to help other people on their adoption journeys.
I just found out today that my mom is coming for a visit later this month. Hooray! I'm so excited for that. It will be the week after Nathanael's parents are here for Nathanael's birthday, which will also be fun.
I'm busy planning Nathanael's birthday celebration. He is going camping with some of his guy friends, and then we are having a birthday brunch at our house on Saturday morning. I'll let you know how it goes.
Nathanael has been working late the last several days. I find that I like it even less than I did before Ezekiel was here. I vastly prefer when he is home to when he is not. Everything is more interesting when he is here.
Here is what is going on in Ezekiel's little world:
We're struggling with daytime sleep. He doesn't like to sleep in his crib during the day. It's hard to get him to sleep for more than an hour during the day. Do I just need to come to terms with having a short nap baby?
He stares at me and tracks me a lot. I love it.
He is a drool machine on some days. Some days,
not so much.
His hair can't be stopped. It just keeps on growing.
His smiles are infectious. When he smiles at me, it makes everything better. And he smiles a lot.
