Keepin Up

Well! I can barely keep my blog updated, what with all of our comings and goings.

Today was a busy day! It was the start of VBS, which is going to be lots of fun. While Ezekiel is too young to really participate, he sure is entertained by all of the kids. He sat in a table chair with the big kids today, while they worked on a craft, he loved that. It's going to be a fun week!

Ezekiel had his 6 month well baby visit today. He weighs 17 lbs. 7 oz, and is 24 inches long! This is the 81st percentile for height, and 45th percentile for weight. Doc says he's doing great! He got 3 shots, which is never fun, but he seems to be handling it ok. We'll see how things go tomorrow.

We went over to my grandparents house tonight, and we ate at Hometown Buffet. Pete and Kathy and David came with us to dinner. I'm sure Nathanael will be sad that we won't be eating there anymore. :)

Yesterday was our last Sunday going to Santa Rosa. Here are my musings on the subject:

*We've been going to Santa Rosa very nearly once a month for just over 3 years now. It's hard to believe it's been that long.

*I remember the first time we went, in March of '07. We hadn't even been married a year yet. We stayed the night Saturday night in a fancy hotel, and had a fancy dinner. In other words, we totally blew all the money Nathanael earned the next day. That was the first and last time we ever did that, but it sure was fun.

*There is a wonderful little old lady there who is always dressed from head to toe in a consistent color, right down to her shoes. Sometimes is is blue, sometimes it is red. Yesterday, it was purple. On one of our first visits to Santa Rosa, she had a brooch on her collar, as well as on the backside of her shoulder. She said that was so that people could see her coming and going! She held Ezekiel for quite a while during services last night. Her name is Doll, and she is a treasure.

*I still miss Dayle Ann every time we go. She was such a bright spot in our visits to Santa Rosa. I didn't get to spend nearly enough time with her.

*Santa Rosa is where I've heard Nathanael preach the most. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

*There are lovely oak trees outside of the little old church building, that you can see from the pews. It was one of the first things I noticed when we walked into the building the first time.

*Nathanael and I have had many, many hours of good conversation in the car, to and from Santa Rosa. Many interesting, and important things have been discussed.

*Some of our first trips to Santa Rosa included sleeping in the car at the park for part of the afternoon. It was fitting, then, that part of our afternoon yesterday was spent sleeping in the parking garage of the mall. It is certainly true that things come full circle.

*We've eaten at some good restaraunts, and some not so good.

*We've taken lots of people with us to Santa Rosa, including the Castleberrys (before Erin was a Castleberry), the Kloss', my mom, Megan, Amber, Shala, and Ruby, and Alicia. It was with 2 of those people that I milked a cow for the first time. :)

*We've had more breakfast sandwiches from Jack In the Box on our way to Santa Rosa than any other time in our lives.

*It was at Santa Rosa that I was first introduced to Mona Vie

*There is another lovely older woman there named Betty who adopted her 2 children in the 1950's. She gave me a set of old books that she had when she adopted her children. She said it was time she passed them on. They are wonderful books, and I'm so glad she gave them to us.

*****

The weekend before this past weekend, we spent up in Oregon, looking for a place to live. We got the one we wanted! We drove up on Saturday, and we stayed with the Howells. Nathanael was perusing the internet for places to live on Saturday night, and stumbled upon this great little old house in Lake Oswego that was a short term lease, and therefore was a really good price. So we went to look at it on Monday afternoon, and we liked it, so we applied for it. We weren't sure if we were going to get it, but we heard on Thursday that we did! So we are relieved and excited that we have secured a place to live. Aside from home shopping, we had a great weekend, and really enjoyed spending time with the Howells. Ezekiel turned 6 months old on the Monday we were there, and Chantel took some beautiful pictures of him, which I have previously posted.

Friday night, Megan and I went to a Chicago/Doobie Brothers concert. It was lots of fun! Megan had never been to a rock concert, and it was one of the things that she wanted to do before she turned 26, and I was honored that she chose me to go with her. :)

Did I mention that Ezekiel likes bananas?

He's very nearly sitting up on his own now!
