I forgot to blog about this last week, but it is too memorable of a moment for me to forget it (I know, that doesn't make sense. But I forget most of my life once the day is over, which is why I blog).
We had our first disciplinary moment with Ezekiel last week. We were all in our room, getting ready for bible class. Ezekiel was crawling around on the floor. He headed, as he has several times, for the electrical outlet. As Ezekiel reached for it, Nathanael decided that he wanted to show me how discipline should be done, so he bent down and said "NO!" sternly and loudly, just once. There was a pregnant pause while Ezekiel looked up at him, then looked over at me, watching intently, then back at Nathanael. And then, the lip turned out, the face scrunched up, and the tears came. Nathanael promptly picked him up and soothed him, and explained very reasonably to Ezekiel why he needed to be disciplined. I think he understood.
I wish I had recorded that moment with the video camera.
In other news, I don't have any. It's been somewhat of an uneventful week, unless you consider packing eventful. Which I don't. I went walking with my walking club friends today, that was great. I took the car to the shop yesterday. Exciting.
Speaking of exciting...
I've started a list (I'm always looking for reasons to start a new list) of goals. I'd like to say that it is a list of 40 things that I'd like to do before I turn 40, in the spirit of my sister in law Megan, who did something similar prior to her 26th birthday. The problem is, 40 things would be a lot of things to do, and even though these are goals, I probably won't actually attain many of them. They're just things I'd like to do, but that is a boring label for a list. So with that introduction, here is the first of my list of '40 by 40'.
1. Walk on the Grand Canyon Skywalk
Nathanael and I watched a special on the building of this not that long ago. It was fascinating, and now that I have seen that it is structurally sound, I would like to go.

2. Become a river guide for at least one summer

In August, Nathanael and I went on a white water rafting day trip. It was awesome. I love water and adventure and PFDs, so it was then and there that I decided that I wanted to be the person in the back of the boat.

3. Work at a MAC store
This has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. Or at least, since 1984, when MAC Cosmetics Inc. was started. But probably more like since 2002. Unfortunately, this particular dream may never be realized, since there is a high demand for employment.

4. Build a house in a poor country with Habitat for Humanity
This is another recently discovered desire. I just think it sounds cool and magnanimous.
