Summer fun

As per the usual, our summer was packed full of fun and frolic. Here is a survey of what we did.

*Shala and Andy's wedding weekend was sensationally fun! We stayed in a beautiful house in Suncadia, which Ezekiel loved. Whenever we left the house, he always wanted to go back to "Shala's other wedding". The wedding itself was so fun and so perfectly Shala and Andy.

*On our way home from Suncadia, we stopped at the fish hatchery in the Columbia Gorge. Ezekiel's favorite part was the fish drawings on the ground. He couldn't believe it every time we saw another one.

*Ezekiel got to go to Dan and Robyn's house the second weekend in July. At the last minute, Nathanael got asked to speak at the Hockinson youth forum. Nathanael, Atticus, and I spent the weekend doing that. What a nice surprise it was to see the entire Josh Higgins family!

*Nathael and I played Village. I'm not sure if I liked it. I'd have to play it again.

*The Postal Service concert was RAAAAD. Barb and Jessie came over to babysit the boys, and we went to dinner at Bamboo Sushi before the concert. It was fun to go to a concert again. I also learned about twerking. So weird.

*Camp! Always fun. Nathanael, Atticus and I went, and Ezekiel went to Grammy and Poppa camp. Atticus and I had a posh cabin all to ourselves. It was a fun week of seeing lots of friends, and Nathanael and I's game of Capture the Flag turned out awesome!

*Upon returning from camp, we unpacked, did laundry, and re-packed for California! It was our longest road trip yet as a family of 4, and it went great. We had 2 additional passengers, and I think that helped for entertainment purposes, for both Ezekiel and Nathanael. We spent a few days at the Sanderson's (always fun), and then headed to the Higgins for the Dublin Youth Forum.

*This deserves it's own bullet: Dani and Val hosted a baby shower for Atticus and I while we were in Folsom. Such a sweet gesture! I love them. Some of my favorite people were in attendance, and I loved every minute of it. The decorations were adorable and I felt so loved. Love my friends in CA.

*Shala came to visit for a few days, and we took her to the zoo. Ezekiel learned about dippin dots and elephant ears that day. I doubt we'll ever get to go to the zoo again without him asking for one or both of those.

*We took my mom to Seaside for a night to celebrate her 60th birthday. We spent a few hours at the beach, which Ezekiel LOVED. I was so pleased at how much he was delighted by the waves. He was shivering, and kept wanting to go back. So awesome. It was a fun night, and something we should do more frequently; going away for a couple of nights, just my mom and the girls.

*After that little adventure in Seaside, I was tired of everything travel. By that time, we had been either traveling or had company for 22 of the last 23 days. I felt a little crazy. Being home for a long time never sounded so good.

*To finish the summer off, we bought a new BBQ. Dan and Robyn came down for Labor Day and we had an amazing salmon dinner. And I think BBQ'd salmon is the perfect way to end the summer and this post.
