Events and friends

In the last month, the following awesome events have occurred in my life:

*I went snowboarding for the first time in Oregon!

*Ezekiel had his 15 month well baby visit. He is both well, and still a baby. (And also pushing 24 pounds!)

*Jaime and Kennedy visited us for a week! I haven't seen them in 2 years, which is difficult for me to believe, because Jaime used to be part of my life every day. It was so fun, and I desperately wish I could see them more often. I was amused to realize while they were here that even after nearly 5 years of marriage, I have still lived with Jaime for longer than I have lived with Nathanael. For that reason, and many others, she is a part of my heart, no matter where we live.

*Shala and Andy and Amber and Ruby came to visit for a weekend, while Jaime and Kennedy was here! That was tons of fun. We went to the famous Portland Saturday Market; it was my first time, and I'd been wanting to check it out. It was very cool and Portland-y.

*We went to dinner at Scott and Allison Higgins for the first time since we've lived here. Good times!

*Mindy and Kelly came to visit! Yay!

*My grandparents came to visit! Yay!

*Nathanael went to Folsom on business for 2 nights. Boo! I did NOT like that AT ALL. If he's going to Folsom, and gets to see our friends, I want to go too!

*Although, I did have a couple of new friends, Sarah and Lisa, over for dinner while he was gone. Hooray for new friends!

*Robyn came for a visit, and she spent the day with Ezekiel while Nathanael and I went to see Dave Ramsey live at the Memorial Coliseum. Can't wait to make our debt free phone call!

In unrelated news, here are my daily mad libs.

I love Paper Source. Their catalog came in the mail today. They have cute and unique stuff, like a book called "My Listography: my amazing life in lists". I think I need that book for my blogging. Too bad the closest location is in...Portland! Yay! I'll have to visit soon.

Today I thought about my friend Val. She has a great blog where she frequently posts recipes. I no longer have the good fortune of consuming the great food she makes, but I am fortunate that she blogs about what she cooks, and at least weekly, I make recipes from her blog. When I cook her recipes, I feel closer to her than a map of the United States tells me I am. When I chop veggies and measure spices for one of her recipes I am making, just knowing that she recently was doing the same thing makes me feel closer to her. And then my mind drifts to all the wonderful memories I have of her and all the things she has done for me. I miss her.

We had tons of fun and are so glad we got to come visit you while Jaime and Kennedy were in town. Even though we live closer it still feels too far away.
I miss Val too!
