We left around 10:30am. Trip preparations are my stressor, so it was a challenge, to be sure. But we did it together! It was daunting to leave the house knowing we’d be gone for 38 days.
In summary, it was a pleasant day. The drive to Boise was about 6.5 hours, and we only stopped twice. The weather was good.
I sat in the back for a good chunk of the drive so I could take a nap, and Ezekiel took a turn in the passenger seat. I needed a nap because I woke up at 5am with nervous energy.
The surprise of the day was how delightful the provolone cheese and salame snack packs were, along with a handful of mixed nuts. Good job Costco!
We arrived in Boise around 6pm. I freshened up and Nathanael and I ordered pizza for the boys and then went to dinner at Bardenay. It was our 18th anniversary! I was really looking forward to the salad I had there 2 years ago, but they didn't have it anymore. We like to see if we can remember what we did on each of our anniversaries, so that was a fun conversation.
I thought the boys would swim when we got back, but they both took one look at the pool with a handful of people in it and walked away. They're such pool snobs. Atticus and I went to the gym instead.
I had a hard time falling asleep, but that's not unusual for my first night in a hotel.
That's it for day one! Stay tuned for day 2 adventures. Stay classy, readers, and be excellent to each other.
