Goodbye February!

As I say goodbye to yet another birthday month, I will review our February adventures.

You heard about the projects, the sleepover and the superbowl party. Here's more about the birthday, Valentines Day, and the trip to Folsom!

My birthday was outstanding! Nathanael gave me a book and Ezekiel gave me a wok. Adam and Sandra babysat Ezekiel while we went to dinner at PF Changs and went to see The King's Speech. It was a good night.

Here is my rocking chair. For my birthday, Dan and Robyn had it repaired and refinished. My parents bought this rocking chair when I was born, it was a big expense for them. It broke when we moved, and now it is just like new! I love it!

Next up was Valentine's Day! February is a great month for us, because we get to go on 2 dates!

But before we get there, a sad story. I made cupcakes to take to Ladies Class, and after I made them, I realized I had no way to transport cupcakes. So after I painstakingly frosted and sprinkled them, here is where they ended up.

Let's move on to better stories.

Valentine's Day plans were a secret from me, until we got where we were going. All Nathanael told me was that he was wearing a suit and tie. So I shopped and fretted about what I was going to wear until, by a stroke of amazing luck, I received in the mail - on Valentine's Day - the dress I am planning to wear to Amber's wedding...which just so happens to be black and red. It was perfect, and it fits perfectly (almost). The big surprise was dinner at Portland City grill, on the 30th floor of the Bancorp Tower. And the other surprise was we dined with 3 other couples from church. It was lots of fun!

Nathanael got steak
I got prawns

It was amazing.

We spent a few days (more for Ezekiel and I) in Folsom, visiting people we love and miss dearly. Here is a list of some of the things we did (because I love lists) and some pictures to prove it.

*attended the Sacred Selections fundraiser
*had lunch with my grandparents and aunt at Hometown Buffet
*had a visit from Joy, Josh, and Anna
*spent a little time looking at wedding pictures and dancing with Alicia (Tyler was there too, of course)
*ate waffles with the Kloss family
*ate brunch with the Rembleskis
*introduced Dominion to the Mowrers
*had lunch and a great visit with Donna
*had a visit from Val and the girls
*went to visit Jessica and Aubrey
*went to my grandparents house for a visit
*and of course, ate funfetti cake and had lots of fun with the Sandersons

As you can see, it was a full 5 days. Ezekiel and I were ready to come home.

Enjoying the flight (I use the word "enjoying" loosely)

we had game candy like no other game candy

See? I wore him out

Last Saturday, we went to Ezekiel's first friend's birthday party! Here he is with the birthday girl, Savannah!

In the midst of all the fun that February held for us, here is what Ezekiel is doing these days.

Fun:
signing 5 or 6 different signs
making kitty, dog, gorilla, and snake sounds
running around with abandon
saying "so what"

not so fun:
teething off and on
crying when he gets his clothes changed
falling a lot more

Not so fun bump on the head

The end of February brought us some cold days, and we tried to brave them and get outside, but we never lasted very long. I just couldn't handle the snot and drool, in addition to the freezing hands.

Picture of the month:
I love this one

Well, writing this post was an adventure of it's own. I vow never to let an entire month go by without blogging again.

Until next time (not next month),

Project-palooza!

It's project time around the May house! Here is what we've been working on this week

*painting Ezekiel's room
*painting a wall in another part of the house
*painting Ezekiel's bookshelves
*painting 2 wall hanging things

Do you see a theme? Once I start painting, I find all sorts of stuff to paint before I put away the paint. It's just easier when I'm in the painting frame of mind. Here are some photos to document my progress.

Ezekiel's room...done! (At least with phase 1. I have 2 more phases to complete before the walls are done.)

Before (Ezekiel's room used to be inhabited by a girl)

Bookshelves...work in progress. I LOVE how they are turning out, though. The remaining wood is going to be white.

One of the hanging things...done!

This is something special because Nathanael's dad made it for him when he was a boy. It was a darker colored blue. My goal is to have something that each of Ezekiel's parents and grandparents have made hanging in his room.

The other hanging thing has only been primed, so it's not very exciting right now. Pictures of that will come later. We also painted another wall brown, and I'll post pictures of that later as well.

You are probably wondering how we were able to paint Ezekiel's room in only 2 days, with a toddler running around. I'm happy to announce that his first sleepover and Grammy and Poppa's house was a success! He left on Monday morning and returned on Tuesday late afternoon. He must have had a good time, because when I greeted him and Dan and Robyn at the door and reached for him, he turned his back on me. I did get a nice smile, though, so that made it better. It didn't bother me...instead, it made me happy that he seemed to have such a good time. I foresee more sleepovers in our future!

In some older news (last week), Ezekiel really likes to wear the bag that my mom made me for Christmas. He's watching baby signing time.

We had a Superbowl party on Sunday, and we had a great turnout! I was a little nervous about the seating, but no one seemed to mind the floor. It was definately the most people we've had in our house since we moved in.

The food spread was awesome

One very important topic I missed here is my birthday. For now, you'll have to be content with knowing that it was a rad birthday, although it's a little weird to be 34. I don't feel 34. More to come on the birthday festivities!

Until next time,
Misty

30 day Challenge: day 29 & 30

My last 2 days of my 30 day challenge! Actually, yesterday was day 30, but I've always been behind in my blogging about it.

Day 29

Today was Sunday, and I actually remembered to take pictures.

my tools:
*MAC paint 'bare canvas'
*MAC eyeshadow 'hepcat'
*MAC eyeshadow 'phloof!'
*URBAN DECAY eyeshadow 'oil slick'
*unknown blue eyeshadow

Day 30

I wanted to go out with a bang, so I saved my most sparkly, glittery makeup for last. However, as previously mentioned, my makeup never looks as good on camera as it does in person. So you'll just have to know that this was pretty spectacular in person. I even got a compliment from the checker at the grocery store.

my tools:
*MAC paint 'bare canvas'
MAC eyeshadow 'phloof!'
*MAC loose green eyeshadow
*HARD CANDY eyeshadow 'platinum'
*GirlActik eyeshadow combo (paste & silver glitter)

And there you have it! 30 days (almost) of different eye makeup. It was fun, even though sometimes I got tired of it. I hope you enjoyed it too!

Incidentally, today is my birthday. Rumor has it that we are going to dinner and a movie. I'm not sure what movie to pick, there are several that I want to see. So far my birthday has been great, I've gotten lots of birthday wishes. And I got my gift from Ezekiel...he gave me a wok! I've really been wanting one, and he must know that I want one to steam his veggies in. What a smart kid!

I'll let you know tomorrow how the rest of my birthday was!

Until next time,
Misty
