Homestudy...done

April

We had our interviews to complete our homestudy last Saturday. It took 4 hours, but we think it went very well. Audrey told us that she should have the 8-10 page homestudy report done in about a week. She would just have to wait for the FBI check to come back, which would take a few weeks, and then she would send us the report to review. After that, our homestudy is done! She said she would send it to anyone we want her to, so we'll have to have her send it to Lifetime and to Dana for now.

The completion of the homestudy is a sentimental milestone for me. It has taken us 9 months from the time we first met with Luke from The Family Network, until we send our package of paperwork in. It was long and arduous. And so much has changed since last July. In the time it took to complete our homestudy paperwork we have moved to a different house, Nathanael has changed jobs twice, almost moved to Kentucky, gone through the holidays, dealt with a car accident in which we went down a car, and had extended family stay with us for 5 weeks. In the face of all that…it’s a huge accomplishment to me that we come through all that and completed our homestudy in 9 months. Dana once told me these days are my own “birth pains”. I get that now.

In the meantime, we have finally decided to contract with Lifetime. So I’ve spent the last week analyzing our finances and getting ready to do that. I have the package sitting on the counter to take to FedEx tomorrow that contains the signed contact and other required paperwork. Another big milestone for us, and the beginning of another series of tasks to complete before we can be presented to birth mothers. This next phase should be a little more exciting, though.

Each day brings me closer to the baby that God has chosen for us.
