June 8th

Monday morning was a difficult one. We had to go and pick up the aveo, which was in the shop, before 8. And I worked from home, because the plumber was coming finally to fix the water heater. I was nervous and anxious about work, like I so often am in the mornings. My afternoon was a little better, but my evening was the best. We went to Barnes and Noble, and bought a couple of books, one was a memory book especially for adopted babies, and one was “What to expect the First Year”. I finally felt I could legitimately buy those. Later that night, while I was sitting at the computer on facebook, Brooke messaged me. I was kind of freaking out, because I didn’t know if I was supposed to talk to her. But I did. I had a long conversation with her on facebook. And I couldn’t then, nor can I know, get my head wrapped around the fact that I was talking on facebook to the girl who is going to give me her baby. It was wild. We talked for quite a while that night, and she gave me her phone number, and said I could call her anytime. Later that evening, Dana called me, and we talked for an hour or so. She told me more about how the weekend was, and I got a chance to ask her so many of the questions I had, like how it was going to work when she went into labor, and about attorneys, and if I should be talking to Brooke. Dana said I should be talking to her as much as I can, that she needs lots of encouragement. So after I got off the phone with her, I went back to talking to Brooke. I saved that conversation, and that is going to be really special to the baby someday, to be able to read the first conversations that I had with Brooke. And I know I will cherish them as well.
